Hamblen County Students Donate 17,000 Pounds to Goodwill!

This February, Hamblen County elementary and middle school students teamed up to raise donations to support Goodwill during their annual Sack Pack Donation Drive. In the course of one week, they contributed an estimated 17,618 pounds of clothes, toys and household goods.

In exchange for their donation, every participating student received a voucher for a free meal from McDonalds and one student was randomly selected to win a pair of tickets to Dollywood. Ms. Cameron's 5th grade class, pictured above, gave nearly 100 bags of donations; because they were the top-donating class in Hamblen County, we rewarded them with an ice cream party!

Donations raised during the Sack Pack Donation Drive are sold in Goodwill Industries-Knoxville's 28 regional retail stores; revenue generated directly supports Goodwill's vocational training programs and employment services for individuals with barriers to employment.
