Digital Skills

Goodwill Industries - Knoxville, Inc. offers an array of virtual and in-person training designed to enhance the digital skills needed to compete in today’s workforce.

Computer Basics is offered at our Knoxville and Morristown job training centers and focuses on introductory concepts for Windows, Google Drive/Gmail, Office 365, and Internet Safety.  These classes are held in two-hour sessions, two days per week for five weeks.

Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel courses are offered at our Knoxville location and are held in three and ½ hour sessions, three days per week for six weeks.

Through collaborations with Goodwill Industries International and Coursera, we can provide no-cost access to the full Coursera library for individuals that wish to enhance their digital literacy skills at their own pace. This is a perfect option for self-motivated, busy adults with the desire to add to their portfolio by earning industry-recognized credentials through this virtual platform. Examples of certificates include Google AI Essentials, Microsoft Power BI, Google IT Support, & Cybersecurity.


Good Tech

Our three week GoodTech Core & six week GoodTech Technical programs are offered at our Knoxville training center and are designed to assist students to explore technology and enhance career opportunities. This a multidimensional training designed to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers. Classes can be entry point for those wishing to further their education or as a stand-alone option to help obtain immediate employment.

  • Core Classes: This course prepares students to work in the fields of Office Administration or Call Center Customer Service Representative. Gain in demand skills required for office environment such as active listening, problem solving, and critical skills. Certifications you can obtain include: Northstar Certifications in Basic Computer Skills; Internet Basics; email usage; Windows 10; Social Media; Information Literacy; Microsoft Word; Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Technical Classes: This course is recommended for participants who want to prepare for more technical careers such as a Computer Support Specialist.
