eKnox
Goodwill’s Workforce Development team has recently embarked on a very exciting partnership:
Goodwill and the Knoxville Chamber, through their eKnox program, are launching a Digital Literacy program at Goodwill Knoxville’s Main Campus on Kingston Pike. Goodwill will provide course curriculum for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Following each 5-week course, each participant, is eligible for a $50 Google Chromebook. We are excited to be back teaching in our beautiful and newly renovated space.
eKnox is a community digital literacy portal created by the Knoxville Chamber to provide resources for nonprofits, organizations and businesses to start and run digital literacy programs. A pilot program for adults was conducted October-December 2022 to tackle three components of the digital divide — access to high-speed internet, access to affordable devices and digital literacy.
What eKnox Provides:
15 hours of classroom instruction over 5 consecutive weeks
Option to purchase a new Chromebook for $50

Participants attended class in-person twice a week, 1.5 hours per session

Class Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, September 24th-October 22nd, 1:00-3:00 PM
Our three week GoodTech Core & six week GoodTech Technical programs are offered at our Knoxville training center and are designed to assist students to explore technology and enhance career opportunities. This a multidimensional training designed to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers. Classes can be entry point for those wishing to further their education or as a stand-alone option to help obtain immediate employment.
Core Classes: This course prepares students to work in the fields of Office Administration or Call Center Customer Service Representative. Gain in demand skills required for office environment such as active listening, problem solving, and critical skills. Certifications you can obtain include: Northstar Certifications in Basic Computer Skills; Internet Basics; email usage; Windows 10; Social Media; Information Literacy; Microsoft Word; Excel and PowerPoint.
Technical Classes: This course is recommended for participants who want to prepare for more technical careers such as a Computer Support Specialist.

Through collaborations with Goodwill Industries International, Comcast, Meta, and Coursera, we are able to provide no-cost access to the full Coursera library for individuals that wish to enhance their digital literacy skills at their own pace. This is a perfect option for self-motivated, busy adults with the desire to add to their portfolio by earning industry-recognized credentials through this virtual platform. Examples of certificates include the Facebook Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate, Google IT Support, Python, and Cybersecurity.
