SCHOOL PROGRAM OPTIONS

School-to-Work and School Paid programs are designed to provide work adjustment services to individuals still enrolled in high school.

The School-to-Work program is a program jointly operated by the Division of Rehabilitation Services and Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc.

The School Paid programs, which include Knox, Roane, Campbell, and Sevier counties and Oak Ridge City and Oliver Springs school districts, is jointly operated by each of the area schools and Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc.

All participants must be at least sixteen years of age and have reasonable expectation of being successful in the program.  Most often, individuals in either program are in their junior or senior years of high school and are preparing to graduate and enter the workforce.

The goal of the School-to-Work and School Paid programs is to allow individuals to explore various occupational areas and gain general work-related skills valuable in any environment, while meeting the requirements of his/her Individual Education Plan (IEP).  The concept of “real work” is presented in a work adjustment environment designed to be flexible with the needs and limitations of each participant.  The ultimate goal is to provide the individuals with appropriate transitional training and job placement assistance designed to meet individual needs and interests.
