CERTIFIED NURSES ASSISTANT

This is an eight-week program, taught by a registered nurse, which includes up to 150 hours of classroom and clinical instruction on the proper physical and psychological care for patients. This course is designed to prepare students to take the Tennessee State Nurse's Aide Training (NAT) exam and become State-Certified Nurses Assistants. The Goodwill Employment, Development, Assessment Center (EDAC), conveniently located at 1013 North Broadway, houses this employment skills training program in a comfortable and well-equipped environment.

Clinical Experience: During the final phase of the program, participants receive approximately two weeks of on-site, performance-based clinical experience at a local healthcare facility. Training is supervised by the RN instructor. This clinical, "hands-on" experience provides the participants with an opportunity to utilize their newly learned skills and to build the self-confidence necessary to successfully pass the state's NAT exam and obtain employment as a CNA.
