Free Computer Recycling Now Available at Goodwill

Residents throughout Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc.’s 15 county service delivery area are now able to recycle their computers and computer equipment free of charge. Goodwill Industries and Dell have teamed-up to offer the Reconnect program which will allow consumers to drop off their computers and computer equipment at any Goodwill Industries-Knoxville retail location or attended donation center for recycling.

Why recycle? Computers are safe for everyday use, but they do contain materials that are harmful to the environment. By recycling your old computers and computer equipment, you are keeping these harmful materials and excess plastics and metals out of our landfills and water streams. Since 2005, Dell and Goodwills across the country have been able to keep more that 48 thousand tons of E-waste out of landfills and now East Tennessee has the opportunity to do the same.

Recycling doesn’t just save the environment- it provides jobs and training. All proceeds from this program benefit Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc.’s vocational training and employment opportunities for individuals with barriers to employment.

All computers and computer equipment are responsibly recycled through Dell’s product recycling programs, by certified environmental partners. Even though Goodwill will not be reselling computers in its stores, it is important to remember that it is each individual’s responsibility to delete all private and personal information for their protection.
